Newcastle College ranked best performing general FE college in England for 16-18 year olds

National school and college achievement and attainment tables have ranked Newcastle College as the best performing general FE college for 16-18 year olds in England.

The tables, which show achievement and attainment for general FE colleges across the country for 2008/09, were issued by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in January.

Newcastle College, already graded outstanding by Ofsted and a Beacon status college, came top of the table for general FE colleges for achievement in full time 16-18 provision, which includes Newcastle Sixth Form College.

The college also scored higher than any state school in the Newcastle and Gateshead region cementing its postiion as the outstanding provider in the region.

Newcastle College offers a wide range of full time 16-18 provision, including A levels, Diplomas, National Diplomas and International Baccalaureate programme.

Principal of Newcastle College, Bev Robinson, said: “We are delighted with today’s announcement on school and college achievement and attainment from the DCSF which ranks Newcastle College as the best performing general FE college in the country for 16-18 year olds.

“To be ranked as the best in the country is a huge accolade and one which everyone at Newcastle College has worked very hard to achieve.
